Cathryn Darlene Lindstrom Alexander passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025 at the age of 92.
Cathryn was born on April 28, 1933, in Holdrege, NE to Lawrence and Elsie (Urbom) Lindstrom. She attended school and graduated from Wilcox High School.
Cathryn married DeWayne Harold Alexander in Las Vegas, Nevada. To this union three children were born, Judy, Ron and Jill. They lived in Holdrege and North Platte, Nebraska before settling in Gothenburg Nebraska where she has lived for 65 years.
Describing her as a “devoted mother” with “impeccable taste” and a zest for life that touched everyone around her is how she’ll be remembered. Friends and family remember her for her warmth, her adventurous spirit, and her ability to find joy in the little things, her flowers especially her roses, cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing especially making quilts, for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She had a preschool for 37 years teaching many children in the Gothenburg community how to sit still, be kind to others, share, learn their colors, shapes and so many other things thus allowing them to be further ahead when they started kindergarten. She loved this job and it was her true calling in life.
Katie was a great cook and enjoyed for many years providing chicken dinners for the men’s golf league.
She embraced life with passion and joy and loved playing bridge and meeting her friends for coffee and gab.
We don’t know what God’s plan was the day mom left us, we can only trust she is now on the greatest road trip of them all, with God, or whipping up quilts. Following her heart, like she always did, on her way to being the same incredible angel in heaven that she was down here on earth. She will be missed. She will be remembered. She will be celebrated.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, grandmother, great- grandmother, teacher and friend to many. She was DeWayne’s beloved friend, wife and true partner for 66 years beside him all the way through laughter, good times and bad, sickness and health throughout their life’s journeys.
Cathryn was a member of the American Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping with JAM club.
Cathryn was preceded in death by her husband, parents; brother, Gerald (Martha) Lindstrom; sisters, Marilyn (Dick) Gloor, Carolyn (Elliott) Olesen, Ilene (Wally) Brown.
