Charles G. (“Moonpie”) Mooneyhan III, 82, born October 14, 1941, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2023, at Genoa, Nebraska, after a short illness.
He lived around North Platte, Stapleton, and Hershey for the last 12 years where he made a lot of friends. He had retired from the agriculture industry. His most recent job was at Simplot Grower Solutions in Hershey.
He was originally from Sumter, South Carolina, where he started farming after finishing high school. Moonpie enjoyed live music, cooking and eating southern food and barbeque and was well known for his southern accent, his stories, and his burgundy tour bus, the “Twenty First Century Hobo.”
He was the son of the late Charles G. (Marguerite) Mooneyhan II.
He leaves behind his son Charles (Chuck) G. Mooneyhan IV, daughter Heidi (Tom) Trull, grandson Joe, sisters Marlowe (Wayne) Ridgeway and Nancy Mooneyhan, and brother Michael (Ileen) Mooneyhan.
He was laid to rest in a family cemetery on December 5 in Lee County, South Carolina.
