Evelyn Lucille Kelly Beach
Lucille passed away peacefully the morning of March 31, 2017. She had 95 grace-filled years of life, experiencing mostly excellent health. She was born to Arthur and Grace Cline Kelly on February 14, 1922 in Stapleton, Nebraska at the home of her parents, with her grandmother, Blanche Overman Cline, attending the birth. Lucille graduated from Stapleton High School with the class of 1939 and has attended many class reunions. The young family of Art and Grace migrated to San Diego, California in 1940 when Lucille was 18 years old. She lived in San Diego until her death. Lucille married Donald Gilbert Beach of Tryon, Nebraska in San Diego on February 19, 1941. He was the son of John Gilbert Beach and Florence Edith Bertran. Don and Lucille cherished their 55 years of life together. They joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, now named the Community of Christ, in National City, California in 1950. This was the church of Lucille’s grandmother, Blanche Cline, who was converted by missionaries while living near Tryon in 1901. The church and their friends from church were the center of the Beach family’s lives. Lucille loved life and sharing it with people—both family and friends. She and Don took many trips by motorhome to visit the family and friends in the Sandhills and throughout the Midwest after retirement. Memories from those and other visits remained precious throughout the remainder of her life. Surviving family include two daughters, both born in San Diego: Lois Elaine Beach Russell of Iowa and Lorna Jean Beach Conley of San Diego. Grandchildren: Aaron Lopez (Ellen), Jared Ragland, Emmalie Ragland, Jeanna Kullmann (Jeremy), and Jamie Chavez (Jessica). Great grand-children: Kevin Lopez, Aidan Lopez, and Jaksen Kullmann. Several nieces and nephews, many other family members and friends in Nebraska, San Diego and across the U.S. remain to cherish her memory.Preceding her in death were her husband, Don Beach, parents, Art and Grace Kelly, sister, Jean Kelly Yost, her uncle, Brock Kelly, all of California; aunt Lenna Chapman, of Stapleton; cousins Jim Chapman Lila Chapman Beckius, and Jim Beckius, of Stapleton, and many others.A memorial celebration of her life was held on December 30, 2017, at the Chula Vista Community of Christ Church in California.
