Marcena Mae Zutavern, 93, of Dunning, Nebraska, died Thursday, September 17, 2026, in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
A private memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with Pastor Randall Goeke officiating. Govier Brothers Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Episcopal Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska. Marcena was born February 28, 1933, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Arthur “Swede” Mathews and Vera Mae Mathews.
Marcena cherished her family and delighted in travel, art, architecture, and the beauty of nature.
She is survived by her daughter, Sara (Rob) Gaffney of Apex, North Carolina; her three sons, Conrad Zutavern of Dunning, Zak (Amy) Zutavern of Dunning, and John (Charla) Zutavern of Broken Bow, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Cecilia Nutter of Papillion, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; and her grandson, Print Zutavern.
