Matthew Dean Fiechtner, 35, had his life taken from him on October 2, 2023. He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on June 26, 1988 to Kevin and Tammy (Ostermiller) Fiechtner.

Matt’s family lived in Greely, CO where they operated a dairy. In 1995, they moved to Stapleton, NE where Matt ranched with his mom and dad and sister. Matt graduated from McPherson County High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Colby Community College in Colby, KS.

In 2021, Matt moved his young family to Utica, Montana where he worked for Keith Braaten and was able to continue ranching with his dad. Matt loved Montana and enjoyed many of the things it offered. He was teaching himself to fly-fish and loved the Judith River and splashing there with his kids.

Matt was the kindest man and his generous spirit meant that he never met a stranger. Family and friends were so so important to Matt. He was always there for anyone who needed it. He could talk with anyone. He lived by the code, “Work hard, play hard and love with all you’ve got!” He was a bright light in a world of darkness; taken way too young. He is dearly missed.

Matt is survived by his children, Lukas and Sami; his parents, Kevin and Tammy Fiechtner; sister, Nicole Fiechtner; grandparents, Gene and Evelyn Ostermiller; special friend, Erin Balderson; many aunts, uncles, other family, and countless friends.

Matt was a loving and dedicated father to his children. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a gift to the Matt Fiechtner Legacy Account; c/o Stockman Bank, PO Box 425 Stanford, MT 59479; checks can be made to Tammy or Kevin Fiechtner with “memorial fund” noted in the memo line or follow this link for paypal: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/MattFiechtnerLegacy
