Michael Dee Haskell, 76, of Saint George, Utah, passed away August 13, 2021. The son of Charles (Chad) M. and Vivian B. (Wells) Haskell was born August 21, 1944 in Arnold, NE. He was a gift from God, for not only his parents, but also his two brothers, Charles and Leland (Dick) and his sister, Maudene.His father, Chad, passed away in December, 1944, leaving Vivian to raise the four small children alone. Michael (Mike) was three months old; Charles was five; Dick was four; and Maudene was three years old at that time.Vivian remarried later to George E. Winters, who raised his new family as his own.Mike attended School Districts #25 and #4, graduating from McPherson County High School in Tryon, NE in 1962.Mike joined the National Guards in 1960 and was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, then attended Officers Training School. He was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Lieutenant in 1966.After returning from the service, he joined his stepfather in ranching.Michael married Dixie Ann Stewart on March 19, 1966. To this union Lynne, Michelle and Chad Michael were born.Mike and Dixie moved to Montana, and again to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he became a security guard at the Grand Flamingo Hotel and Casino.After Dixie passed away in 1993, Mike moved to Saint George, Utah.Mike enjoyed being a “Mountain Man” and met many friends on the Rendezvous.Mike is survived by his special friend, Shannon Lewis, St. George, Utah; daughter Lynne Patterson and son Chad (Regina), grandchildren, Chad Michael and Dixie Lee Haskell, all of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers, Charles (Peggy) Haskell, Burwell; Leland (Kathy) Haskell, Loveland, Colorado; and sister, Maudene (Ron) Sowders Tryon.Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie; and his parents and stepfather.Military graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Miller Cemetery, Tryon, NE with Pastor John Parson officiating.
