Theodore Walter Daigger, age 81, of North Platte and Tryon, died October 14, 2022 in Tryon, NE. He was born on December 11, 1940 in Grant, NE to Theodore Roosevelt and Helen Nadean (Walter) Daigger.
Ted graduated from McPherson County High School in 1958. He then went on to Chadron State College, where he majored in Industrial Arts and Math. While in college he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Haney on May 21, 1960. To this union, two children were born, Gregory Leon and Nadean Lela. During the summers of his college years, he worked for Missouri Valley Construction building bridges. After college graduation, Ted taught Math and Industrial Arts at Stamford, NE. He later moved to Tryon where he taught for an additional 15 years. Shirley passed away December 4, 1988.He hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad in 1977 as a Carman. He worked a short time as a Carman, and completed most of his career with the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer, retiring in 2007. Ted was married briefly to Carol Olson in 1989. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church in North Platte, was a past member of the Odd Fellows, and was Treasurer for the North Platte Senior Center. Ted married Sonja Waltermire on October 10th, 1992 and the couple resided in North Platte. Sonja passed away on April 6, 2018. Ted loved to play cards and fish. His passion in life was working and staying active. He was an excellent gardener and was amazing at math and numbers, using math to solve many problems.Survivors include his children, Greg (Sherry Wever) Daigger of North Platte, and Nadean (Don) Spaulding of Roca, NE; grandchildren, Matt Spaulding of Omaha, Elizabeth Spaulding of Boulder, CO, Emily Spaulding of Lincoln, Dillon Daigger of Hastings, and Dane (Racheal) Daigger of Kearney; brother, John (Pat) Daigger of North Platte; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Edith Ellen and John Gale; special friend, Jan Smith of North Platte; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, and an infant brother, Kite. A memorial has been established to the North Platte Senior Center and online condolences and livestream of the service can be found at adamsswanson.com.Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 22, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Evans officiating. Burial will be at Miller Cemetery near Tryon. Visitation will be Friday, October 21st, from 12-7, with family present from 5-7, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
