Thomas Eugene Hansen, 59, of Wellfleet, Nebraska, passed away March 5, 2022 at his home. He was born February 10, 1963 to Lawrence and Gloria Jean (Folchert) Hansen in North Platte, Nebraska.
Tom attended school in Maywood, graduating from Maywood High School with the class of 1981. He was valedictorian and Home Coming King. In 1985 he graduated from the University of Nebraska Lincoln with his degree in Bachelor of Science Agriculture. He returned back home to the farm and ranch where he has lived his entire life. Tom was united in marriage to Jill Kasperbauer on September 7, 1985 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Spalding, Nebraska. During the late 1990’s he was board member of the former Maywood COOP and current president of the Ag Valley Coop. Tom also served as board member of the NE Coop Counsel for nine years and served on the Lincoln County Ag Society Board member for many years. He was very active in 4H, serving as a 4H leader for over twenty years and coordinated the 4H (Best of the West) Livestock Show. Tom lived larger than life and never met a stranger. He had a very onery personality, a man that enjoyed life and had lots of fun. Family was very important to Tom, he loved spending time with his family and attending all of the family events. Grandchildren called him “Sir” and knew where his candy drawer was. He was very excited about his granddaughter that Kellie and Michael are expecting. He was looking forward to his grandkids 4H careers. Tom was well thought of by his in-laws and being remembered as the “favorite uncle”. Everyone will remember his cherry, apple and plum “pies” in a bottle for his neighbors and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Jill of Wellfleet; three children, Hollie (Marshall) Fischer, Gibbon, Nebraska, Kellie (Michael) Hoffmann, Tryon and Todd Hansen, Wallace, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Claire Fischer, Miles Fischer, Mason Fischer and Thea Fischer; siblings, Travis (Melody) Hansen, Stapleton, Nebraska and Tammy (Ron) Snell, Georgetown, Texas; mother-in-law, Marie O’Gorman, Greeley, Nebraska; in-law’s, Jeff Kasperbauer, Jan Kasperbauer, Julie (Greg) Sterner, Joel (Leanna Freeman) Kasperbauer, Justin (Julie) Kasperbauer, Jene (Janet) Kasperbauer, Jon (Denise) Kasperbauer; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Gloria Hansen; father-in-law’s Don Kasperbauer and Pat O’Gorman; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Kasperbauer.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, North Platte, with Rev. Bernard Kimminau officiating. Burial will follow at the Curtis Cemetery, Curtis, Nebraska. Visitation will be 9:00 – 5:00, Wednesday, March 9, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, and Thursday, March 10, 5:00-7:00 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with family receiving friends.
The service will be livestreamed via the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those unable to attend. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
