William Alden (Billy) Griffith, Jr. died at home on Turtle Ridge on April 2, 2024, of esophageal cancer. He was born July 25, 1947, in Tokyo, Japan to William A and Florene Henry Griffith. Mary Ellen (Meno) (Princeton, WV) John (Spearfish, SD) and Susan (Stapleton, NB) have lost their older brother and Angie, Amy, Kim, Kate, Este, and Shoshanna have lost their beloved Uncle. Neighbor and best friend, Jim Campbell, has lost his co-conspirator of the last 50 years. Billy was a cowboy and a carpenter; an environmentalist, a pacifist, and a veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved fishing, dancing, and playing with words. His wit and humor will be missed by his many friends. A celebration of his life will be held at the Appalachian South Folklife Center in Pipestem, WV later this spring
