James (“Jim”) C. Davenport, age 83, of Arnold, passed away on November 11, 2017 at the Callaway District Hospital. Jim was born July 4, 1934 to Orville and Lola (Bean) Davenport in Gothenburg.  He was a 1952 graduate of Gothenburg High School, where he enjoyed playing football and participating in track.  After high school, he attended Colorado A&M in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Martin Elmer Nelson, 89, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Legacy Silverton Medical Center, Oregon.Martin was born on August 27, 1928, in North Platte, to Nels and Hazel (Middleton) Nelson, the oldest of seven children.  He was raised for a time in the Tryon, area, moving to Oregon as a young boy with his family and settling in the Silverton area.  Throughout most of his life, Martin worked for a paper mill.

Thomas Neil Dappen, son of Robert & Barbara (Lutes) Dappen, was born November 12, 1958, in Wahoo. He died on September 12, 2017,  in Las Vegas, Nevada, following a lingering illness. He was a Retired Veteran, U.S.

Daniel Clifton Greeley, age 56 of North Platte, died Thursday November 2, 2017 at Centennial Park Retirement Home.Dan was born September 24, 1961 to Eugene Vaughn and Glennis Maureen (Knotts) Greeley. He grew up in North Platte, and graduated from North Platte High School in 1979.  Following high school he studied electrical technology at Mid-Plains Community College.

Leland Kermit Paxton, age 102, died November 1, 2017.  He was born February 17, 1915, in Thomas County, NE, to Jesse Claude and Maggie Mae (Lutes) Paxton.Kermit was a longtime rancher, selling his last cattle in February of 2016. Elsie Hazen age 83 of Butte, NE formerly of Brownlee, NE, died October 30, 2017 at Parkside Manor in Stuart, NE.Funeral services were held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Thedford with Pastor Tim Hazen officiating.  Burial was in the Brownlee Cemetery.Elsie was born on April 24, 1934 at Thedford, NE to Myrl and Sula Fern (Allphin) Howell.  She was married to James H.
